Project Descriptions

Local libraries should serve as a place where all neighbors and people from all walks of life can meet and gather. We aim to break away from the "fast yet isolated" spaces typical of modern buildings—where floors are disconnected and residents share

only narrow, impersonal corridors—and instead recreate the atmosphere of the 1973 hillside neighborhood in Bukgajwa-dong, where winding alleyways fostered connections among everyone. 

In this new space, people will encounter one another more frequently, seeing and feeling the life of the community.

The ground floor rises in a spiral, following the varying elevations of the adjacent park to facilitate natural pedestrian access; this spiral path continues into the building as an internal ramp. 

As the building rises, the receding placement of the ramps creates an inverted-pyramid atrium that opens toward the sky, maximizing natural light and ventilation while offering a unique sense of openness to users on every floor.
